(framing text: The artists Esther Neff (based in NYC) and Anja Ibsch (based in Berlin) will make a collaborative performance at the historical site of German-American exchange, 1014 Fifth Avenue. This townhouse opposite the Metropolitan Museum once belonged to the last US Ambassador to Imperial Germany and will be the future home of the German Academy New York. Have earlier encounters inscribed themselves in this place? Is there a “spirit” in the rooms? The two artists pursue relationships to their respective, located positions in historic, cultural, and personal timespace, elucidating not only intrapersonal exchange or contact but also contexts through which their bodies and socio-political embodiments appear and make appearance(s).”
